The highest paid representative of show business in 2021 became a New Zealand director Peter Jackson. This is reported by Forbes magazine, which has published one of its traditional rankings.
The publication specifies that many of the list got high positions in the top through the sale of part of their own companies, studios or rights to music and other assets.
The director of the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy made $580 million last year. Thanks to a deal to sell a share of his visual effects studio to Weta Digital for $1.6 billion, he also became the third-billionaire director in history, after Steven Spielberg and the creator of the legendary space saga “Star Wars” George Lucas.
Second place went to rock musician Bruce Springsteen – also thanks to a bargain. In December, Bruce sold all the rights to his music to the label Sony Music Group for about $ 500 million for a total of 2021, he earned $ 435 million.
The rapper Jay-Z is on the third line with $340 million in annual earnings. He sold his share of the champagne brand Armand de Brignac, and parted with a stake in the streaming service Tidal.
Other top 10 richest celebrities in 2021 include blockbuster star Dwayne Johnson, rapper Kanye West, “South Park” creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker, musician Paul Simon, actor, director and playwright Tyler Perry, lead singer of pop group One Republic Ryan Tedder and music legend Bob Dylan.
