The Recording Academy of America and CBS Channel have postponed the 64th Grammy Awards ceremony, which was scheduled for January 31. This was announced on January 5 in an official statement on the website of the award.
The statement said that the decision was made after a thorough analysis with the participation of Los Angeles officials, health and safety experts, the community of artists and numerous partners.
The reason was the spread of a strain of the Omicron coronavirus in the United States.
“The health and safety of members of our music community, live audiences and the hundreds of people who work tirelessly to produce our show remain a top priority. Given the uncertainty surrounding the Omicron strain, there are too many risks involved in holding the Jan. 31 ceremony,” the statement said.
